Mitsubishi products are used in a vast variety of markets including information processing and communications, space development and satellite communications, home electronics, and in fields such as industry, energy, transport and construction. Since it started semiconductor research and development in 1952, Mitsubishi Electric has remained at the forefront of the global semiconductor market.

The semiconductor operations of Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric were transferred to Renesas Technology Corporation on April 1^st 2003.
