Modern interface according to the latest industry standards

Docking windows, docking toolbars, tabbed windows and explorer-like trees to structure information.

Drag&drop
Outstanding additional functionality like drag&drop, e.g. of program symbols from the Workspace window into the Memory window for the display of the appropriate memory area. Also, dragging a variable from the Source window to the Watch window displays the contents of that variable in the Watch window.

Integrated editor
The Source window integrates an editor featuring syntax-coloring, allowing convenient editing of the source files.

Editable tabs
Watch window tabs can easily be edited to display user-definable labels.

Automatic display of locals
The local variables of a function are automatically displayed in the "Locals" tab of the Watch window as soon as the function is entered during debugging.

Customizable windows
Especially the windows displaying information in columns can be highly customized by rearranging and selecting / deselecting of columns. Also the colors, etc. are user-definable.

Project management
All information about the debug session is gathered together in projects. A project holds information about the test system used, the connection type of the test system, the application to be tested, the necessary test system settings, etc.

Symbol tree
The Workspace window displays the symbol tree of the application(s). This provides a good overview and easy access to applications, modules, functions, global and local variables.

Symbol Loader
HiTOP is now able to load the application binary created by the compiler / linker directly. HiTOP's projects now comprise the user application including the compiler used to create it. The settings for the symbol loader, which is integrated in HiTOP, allow to specify the application, related directories, options etc.

Execute Script toolbar
By activating the "Execute Script" toolbar, you can easily execute HiSCRIPT files and even assign HiSCRIPT files to toolbar buttons. A tool tip shows the HiSCRIPT file currently assigned to a button. The label of the button is also user definable. The pull down menu of the Execute Script toolbar gives access to the latest HiSRIPT files executed.

Trace
For a given trace frame, the corresponding source line is displayed in the source window. This is maintained when the user scrolls through the Trace window. The trace can be searched for specific trace frames. The content of the trace can be saved to a file.

Breakpoint and Single-Stepping enhancements

A special feature for the ARM processor family with their conditional execution of instructions is available. For breakpoints and during single-stepping operation the condition code of the assembler instruction is automatically examined to determine if the program will be continued.

Compatibility with HiTOP 4

The outstanding features of HiTOP 4 are preserved:

All in all, an experienced HiTOP 4 user will not miss his or her favorite feature in HiTOP 5. On the contrary, he or she will be surprised by the totally new and intuitive operating concept.

The compatibility between HiTOP 4 and HiTOP 5 is highly maintained. For instance, HiSCRIPT command files from HiTOP 4 run unchanged on HiTOP 5; applications generated for HiTOP 4 load unchanged in HiTOP 5.
